Meet Our Team

Professor Aaron B. Daniels

At Northeastern University, Aaron B. Daniels (he/him) is an Associate Teaching Professor of Psychology as well as a Faculty Affiliate and Mindfulness Fellow in the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service. Additionally, he is a Research Fellow with Psychology & the Other. He also provides spiritual and mindful accompaniment to members of the Northeastern community. Dr. Daniels completed his PhD in Archetypal Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, California. In 2014, he published his dissertation, Jungian Crime Scene Analysis: An Imaginal Investigation. He is the author of four books.

Amelia Carlan

Amelia Carlan is a fourth year psychology student with a theater minor. She worked on a poster for PATO London 2024 on vicarious trauma in the fields of healthcare and mental healthcare, with a specific focus on how to better support Northeastern co-op students embarking on clinical co-op placements. She was a conference volunteer in London, as well as coordinating the ROOM symposium on the Israel Palestine conflict. Amelia has completed one previous co-op as an inpatient mental health counselor at Monte Nido Walden, and is currently working as a research co-op at McLean Hospital’s TEDY laboratory. As one of the student leaders of PH@NU, Amelia has been dedicated to supporting the group’s growth as an undergraduate club, and hopes to set the club up to be a long lasting undergraduate student organization when she graduates next spring. She is interested in creative therapy, mindfulness, alternative psychopharmacology and Shakespeare.

Aidan MacGowan

Aidan MacGowan (He/Him) is a fourth-year student majoring in Psychology with minors in Behavioral Neuroscience and Sociology. He will be presenting a poster at the APA Div 24 conference in Pittsburgh, PA, looking at Climate Anxiety and Existentialism through Attack on Titan: a means for Ideological Revolution. For his first co-op, he worked as a Research Assistant at Boston Medical Center, researching a novel treatment for Alcohol use Disorder. For his second co-op, he worked as a Mental Health Associate at Arbour Hospital’s inpatient unit. Aidan’s main area of interest is existential psychology and Substance Use Disorder counseling. After graduation, he aspires to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, concentrating in Substance Use Disorder research.

Alexandra Maropakis

Alex (she/her) is a fourth-year Behavioral Neuroscience major. She presented her poster at Psychology & The Other 2024 in London on the individuation of Sophie from Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), using Jungian archetypes, social role theory, and Van Gennep’s rites of passage as a vehicle for her analysis. She is directing the creation of a Psychological Humanities Open-Source journal, PHOS. Her aspirations are toward a PhD in cell and molecular neuroscience focusing on neurodevelopment and systems neuroscience.

Naomi Anbar

Naomi (she/her) is a first-year student majoring in Theatre and Psychology. With NU PatO, she has focused on editing manuscripts for the Alien volume. She will also be presenting her poster, “How Lacking Diversity of Opinion Ultimately Harms Us,” at the 2023 Psychology & the Other Conference. Naomi is especially interested in the clinical application of theatre, with a focus on how the action of becoming a character can make a therapeutic difference. Outside of academics, she is on the board of Northeastern’s Hillel.

Nathalie Massud

Nathalie is a fourth-year Psychology and Philosophy major with minors in Human Services and Behavioral Neuroscience. She has worked on editing the Dante volume, and creating two posters, “Solipsistic Echo Chambers Destroying the Ground of Meaning: Husserl, Object-Relations, and Nolan’s Memento (2001),” and “The Cost of Looking Behind the Curtain: Existential Therapy and Nolan’s The Prestige (2006).” Nathalie is interested in exploring political divisiveness through psychological and philosophical theories and exploring this in grad school. 

Amelia Maybrun

Amelia (they/them) is a second-year student pursuing a combined major in Health Science and Psychology with a minor in Sociology. They work as an editor for the Alien volume and are especially interested in applied psychology and the relationship between mental and physical health. Amelia plans to apply for a Co-op as a medical assistant next semester, and outside of academics, they can often be found in the studio dancing with Northeastern University Irish Dance Club and Northeastern University Dance Company.

Hayley Dording

Hayley (she/her) is a second-year student majoring in Psychology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. Her work with NU PatO consists of editing manuscripts to be included in the Alien volume. Hayley has interests in law, behavioral psychology, and forensics. She is currently at her first Co-op at the Massachusetts Board of Appeals as an appeals liaison and coordinator within the Division of Insurance. At Northeastern, Hayley is a proud member of Alpha Epsilon Phi where she has held Assistant Vice President of Philanthropy and Fundraising Chair positions. On campus, Hayley is often at the Marino gym.

Remi Cohen

Remi (she/her) is a second-year student majoring in Business Administration and Graphic Design. She is the lead graphic designer for NU PatO, utilizing Adobe Creative Suite to create the research poster template and work on other design projects such as promotional posters and infographics. She is also a part of the social media team and an editor of the group’s website. She is very interested and passionate about psychology, notably developmental theory and feminist theory.

Anna Katz

Anna (she/her) is a second-year student majoring in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is an editor for Dante scholarship and will be presenting a poster analyzing the Byronic hero archetype in BoJack Horseman at the Psychology & the Other 2023 conference. She is interested in examining what the media is trying to tell us about the human condition. Anna is also a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma.

Brianna Tuchin

Brianna Tuchin is a second-year psychology major with a minor in marketing. She joined PH@NU in the fall semester of 2024 and is currently working on a poster for Psychology and the Other, exploring object relations and family dynamics through the lens of the movie Coraline. Brianna is currently completing her first co-op with the People Team at Mirakl and is passionate about contributing to the academic world of psychology, particularly in clinical psychology and family therapy. She aspires to pursue a PhD in either Clinical Psychology or Industrial-Organizational Psychology after graduation.

Claire Park

Claire is a second-year Psychology major with concentrations in cross-cultural psychology & counseling and applied psychology. She is interested in cultural, vision-cognition, and clinical psychology. She is currently working as a clinical research co-op at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital in the Harvard Aging Brain Study. She has previously worked in the Social Emotions Lab and is currently working in the Translational Vision Lab. She is currently set to present posters in the APA Division 10 and 24 Conferences on complex trauma and the Jungian shadow using Tony Stark from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Amy Santiago from Brooklyn Nine-Nine. She aims for a PhD in Clinical or Cultural Psychology post-graduation.

Natalie Christopher

Natalie (she/her) is a second-year Mathematics and Psychology student with a minor in data science. She is interested in clinical psychology, mindfulness, and dreams. She is currently planning a diagnostic poster analyzing the character Oliver Quick from the movie Saltburn.

Lauren Bernstein

Lauren is a third-year psychology and philosophy student. She volunteered and presented a poster at PATO London 2024, looking at an object relations approach to cult membership. For her co-ops, she worked as a Mental Health Worker at HRI Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital and is currently a lab manager at the Belonging and Social Identities Lab at Northeastern. She also works as an editorial intern at ROOM psychoanalytic journal. She is looking to get involved in the mindfulness volume and support those who are doing clinical psychology co-ops. Lauren is particularly interested in existential and social psychology, with a focus on interpersonal relationships and the politics of recognition. She aspires to get a PhD in Clinical Psychology to help people develop self understanding and higher quality connections.
